Order Acquisition of Compressor for Global Hydrogen Supply Chain Demonstration Project
Order Acquisition of Compressor for Global Hydrogen Supply Chain Demonstration Project

Kaji Technology Corporation (“KAJI”) has been awarded a contract for one unit of reciprocating compressor for Global Hydrogen Supply Chain Demonstration Project. The construction site is planned to be in Brunei Darussalam (“Brunei”).

Main business entities of this project is Advanced Hydrogen Energy Chain Association for Technology Development (“AHEAD”) founded by Chiyoda Corporation (“CHIYODA”), Mitsubishi Corporation, Mitsui & Co., Ltd., and Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha. This project is subsidized in relation to “Technology Development Project to establish Hydrogen Society/Technology Development for the Utilization of Large Scale Hydrogen Energy” by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (“NEDO”) and will be implemented as a business to demonstrate “The Hydrogen Supply Chain utilizing the Organic Chemical Hydride Method”.

Under this project, Hydrogen gas procured in Brunei will be changed to Methylcyclohexane (“MCH”), liquid form under the ambient temperature and the atmospheric pressure, by using organic chemical Hydride method. The MCH will be shipped to Japan by ocean transportation in 2020 and Hydrogen will be extracted from the imported MCH at the bay area of Kawasaki city and supplied to the user. This operation is planned to be implemented for one year and its maximum supply volume is planned to be 210 tons, which covers the fully charging of approximately 40 thousand units FCV vehicles.

The equipment which KAJI will supply this time is Recycle gas compressor and will be used at Hydrogenation plant in Brunei. The contract has been awarded to KAJI, since KAJI’s delivery record and quality of the compressor delivered to CHIYODA’s demonstration plant at Koyasu Office & Research Park was highly evaluated. Organic chemical Hydride testing was implemented there since 2013.

Following this Hydrogenation plant, Dehydrogenation plant to extract Hydrogen gas from MCH is planned to be constructed in Kawasaki city. KAJI will strengthen sales activities to the similar plants and will further endeavor to expand business on Hydrogen-related projects in the world.
